Test Drive #1
Waking up: You wake up in a bed that is not your own, in a room that is not your own. But the more you think about it, you can't remember what your room looked like. In fact, you can't remember anything at all! But hey, at least you're not the only person around. Reach out, find someone, and get some answers. The Dream: Haibane enter this world without most memories, but they do remember one thing: their cocoon dream. But it's not so easy to understand, is it? Maybe talking through it with someone else will help you figure out just what your dream means. Wings aren't easy to use: So, you're a Haibane. Awesome. But you know what's not awesome? Getting used to these darn wings, that's what. Suddenly having two extra limbs that you're not sure how to control isn't easy, and they're liable to bump into things and just plain get in the way. Actually, you might want to apologize for unintentionally hitting that person in the face, or help clean up that lamp you knocked over. On the town: Glie is a beautiful city, and there are a lot of places to explore! So why not check some of them out? Everyone seems friendly enough, and the townspeople are more than willing to help anyone who gets lost. Check out the setting page, pick a spot, and go check it out! Wintertime: It's wintertime in Glie, which means snow, snow, snow! And even though it's cold, the sun is shining, so the cold is bearable today. What are you going to do? Go sledding? Have a snowball fight? Make snow angels? Well, that last one should be a lot easier to do now. Player choice: Don't like these prompts? Come up with your own! The city of Glie is quite large, and there is a lot to do. |
Rakka | ....take a guess?
[Winter... was a special time in Glie. The gently falling snow and the growing chill meant several things for the growing Haibane population. Many of them needed clothes that were suitable for the weather, wing covers too. Now normally that may fall to several Haibane, but it seemed only one had volunteered this year.
Rakka thought she could handle it... She thought wrong.
To anyone out on the main street, they might spot a lone Haibane. Walking... stumbling technically, about with a large box of clothes in her arms. The people around her have, thankfully, provided the Haibane with a wide berth when they saw her... as she couldn't see them.
...Nothing could help her, though, when Rakka stepped on a patch of ice and her and her box were sent to the ground with a startle cry.
And now she knew why a group did this.]
Other
[Old Home generally always had something happening in it, even with most of the older Feathers out in town, there would always be someone staying behind. Today, that Haibane was Rakka, and she.... wandered off.
It takes some searching, but if you really want to find her, she'll be in one of the old rooms, one that was for another Haibane, long ago. From the general mess, the mats and stacks of equipment and cans, this was an art studio. Several paintings sat off to the side, already complete. While the room had a small collection of dust, those did not.
And there she stands, Rakka, looking at one of the painted canvases before gathering it up in her arms. She's very careful with it, handling them like they might break if she wasn't extremely careful. If she sees someone passing in the hall, she'll call out to them.]
Hello! Excuse me?
no subject
He spies Rakka just a bit too late. If he had seen here a few moments earlier, before she had fallen, he probably would've offered to help her with those boxes. That kind of set up was just an accident waiting to happen. But before he can say anything, the accident has happened, and Reiner winces slightly in sympathy. Ice and cobblestones can be a pretty damn painful thing to slip on.
Coming to a halt, he goes down onto one knee, extending one broad, calloused hand --though hell if he knows what he has got those callouses from-- a clear offer to help her up.]
Are you okay? Did you hurt yourself?
no subject
Reiner wasn't noticed until he was approaching, and Rakka was already lying on the cold, hard ground. At least that was hurting more then her pride - shouldn't she know better, as one of the older Haibane?]
...Huh? [she sees the hand, then the rest of Reiner and his Haibane characteristics. After a moment, she accepts it with a sheepish smile.] No, no, I'm fine. Thank you for worrying, though - I guess I wasn't looking where I was going.
no subject
I'm not surprised. I don't think anyone could've seen over that stack of boxes.
[He glances at the scattered boxes, before picking up the one closest to him, holding it out for her. Huh, pretty light. Though that is not that surprise now that he thinks about it. She had been carrying a lot of them at once, and unless she's a lot stronger than she looks, there is a limit to how heavy they could've been] What's in these anyway? Nothing fragile, I hope.
[Because if there had been, it must be smashed by now.]
no subject
I guess... [Bleh, at least Kana wasn't here, or she'd never hear the end of it. She looks more then a little bit thankful as he hands over one of the boxes.] No, it's nothing fragile; it's just clothing for the Haibane down in Old Home! I thought that, since we always need something during the winter times, I'd get some of it.
[...Some of it turning into all of it seemed to be the case.]
no subject
That must be a terrifying amount of clothes if this is only some of it.
[His eyes crinkle a little at the corners. And though his next words are an admonishment, his voice is warm enough to keep from being outright stern.]
You should be careful not to overdo it, especially not in this weather. [He bends down to pick up another box.] Want some help?
no subject
Well, there's a lot of Haibane in Old home now. [Which was true enough. This was way more hatchings then they'd apparently been ready for. Or Rakka was ready for, at least. She was doing her best...!]
...I'll, uh, try. [wehh. she's supposed to set an example as the older feather. At least he seemed to take it in stride, so she puts on a smile.] Yes. That would be really nice! I was worried about how I'd get them all the way back to Old Home.
no subject
[ He's got a mop and bucket in hand; evidently he's cleaning (in fact, most of what he's been doing today is cleaning, and he seems determined to clean everything, or at least most of everything.
He stops what he's doing, though, at Rakka's voice, and sets down his supplies. ]
Oh, did you need help with that? [ It looks pretty awkward to carry. ] I can carry it, if you like.
no subject
It'll be fine.]
Yes! That would help a lot. [...cough.] I mean, if you're not already busy, are you?
no subject
[ He takes the canvas from Rakka, handling it as gently as she herself had. No worries there either, it seems. ] Where is this piece bound for?
no subject
[It's a simple painting that he's holding, of somewhere in Glie. But the way Rakka was holding it, the importance of not breaking them was more then evident.]
Um, that one can... oh, it can go down to the main room! I'm sure there's a nice spot somewhere down there.
no subject
This painting...it's similar to the ones already in the main room. Is the artist the same?
no subject
Yes, that's right! They were painted by a Haibane that used to live here! [She wears a thin smile on her lips.] She was very good at it.
no subject
She used to live here? Where did she go, if I might ask?
no subject
Because, how was it that Reki and the Communicator explained the Day of Flight to her? All those months ago...]
Uh, well, she went where all Haibane go one day.
no subject
Ah. So we'll all leave this place, eventually?
[ He sounds...oddly melancholy about it, to be honest. He's not like some of the others, hankering to see what's beyond the walls.
It's peaceful here. He feels like he's never really had this before. ]
...Perhaps it will be later rather than sooner, if all goes well. I enjoy it here, despite not knowing much.
I hope it's still okay to play with you, always wanted to play with a Haibane Renmei character ;3;
Treading carefully, the heavily-bundled blond boy picked one up to examine, studying the wing-covers for a little longer before he remembered to extend a hand.]
Um, need a hand, miss?
[Somewhat flustered that he'd forgotten to ask how she was or offer help or even acknowledge her at all, when he finally did extend a hand, the fabric of jacket shifted with a disorderly beating of trapped wings underneath. Either the boy wasn't aware wing-covers existed or he was intentionally smothering his.]
It's perfectly fine!! Sorry for being late...
As the boy decides to investigate the contents of a box, Rakka was busy trying to pick herself up... with as much success as you'd think. She slips, at least twice.]
...O-oh, uh, yes. Thank you.
[She reaches up to accept that hand.
...Hmm. That jacket... she notices it shift irregularly. Wings? Oh, maybe he didn't have anything to keep then warm.]
I don't mind at all, thanks for replying!
It's fine. Be more careful, okay? Ice is slippery. That's basic.
[Kind of a condescending little brat, isn't he? As soon as she's back on her feet, he tucks his hands back intonhis pockets, leaning back. He glances back at the box.]
I thought haibane were only allowed hand-me-downs.
["Haibane," as if he has nothing to do with them. Still, he's very curious about them...]
o7
Umm, yeah, I'll keep that in mind.
[He is a bit of a brat, but Rakka was amicable towards even jerks at times. She could roll with it.
Now that she was up, Rakka could get to gathering up all of the boxes again.]
They are! These are all from a thrift store we usually go to! The Haibane always need new clothes when winter comes around.
[... thaaat was quite the oversight, sorry! Reading comprehension failure.. and the formatting! ^^;]
Mm, but he'd have to bend down, and he didn't care much for getting closer to the ground, maybe if he kneeled, but kept his head up and back strai— oh, she's got all the boxes before he could do anything.
He'll just. Stay down there, for a bit. Act like he didn't just crouch down for nothing. Suddenly develop a very deep interest in the ice and frost.
A terribly awkward brat, at that.]
... really? I didn't know.
Are you in charge of handing them out, then? [He really doesn't know how things are done around here, not in-depth, at least.]
And, um... are there still more in the store? You know, if someone were to go look for them, would they find any?
It's quite alright! on both counts!!
Ahem.
She's gathering some of the boxes as she speaks, stacking them together. Thanks for your help, kid.]
Uh... [Hrm. Maybe he was new?] That's right. But, normally it's supposed to be a team effort, where a bunch of the older Haibane help. But I thought I could do it on my own.
[Apparently not. So much for being a cool older Haibane?]
.... I don't know for sure. It's possible, but this is just what I got.
