The dream. Everyone of them has their cocoon dream. That is simply a fact of being a Haibane. What it means is obviously a very different story - although Cornelia has a very distinct idea of what her's might be about, it's very... fuzzy. The meaning of a dream can be metaphorical, and simply taking the most literal interpretation could be folly.
Perhaps it's the small glass of cheap liquor on the rocks in her hand that has Cornelia, normally someone quiet about her feelings, a little more talkative. "Is everyone's dream terrifying?" she wonders aloud, totally pretending she doesn't want a response that she absolutely wants to hear.
Wings
Why? Why do they have wings? Someone explain this to her. Cornelia has already felt a little off being assigned as a store clerk, but from day one, she's had to worry about her wings knocking stock off the shelves, and making messes to clean up, or even breaking things.
If this keeps up, will she be fired? What will happen? Failure is unacceptable, but...
"Nng..." she bites down to resist the urge to curse as her wing nudges a glass jar of jam... and then with a shout she dives down to just barely catch it in time. "I can't even fly with them..."
